"Happy to report that Foreign Affairs has updated its travel advisory for Canadians going to the U.S. I had called for when interviewed by the CBC and CTV. Others also called for the same. It’s not that I’m trying to be alarmist. Many Canadians won’t face any issue whatsoever. However, if you are male and born in Iran or Afghanistan, for instance, and have been Canadian for many years and married a Canadian and have Canadian kids and truly feel Canadian, nevertheless, you could face major issues at the border including a search of our devices. These Canadians are Canadians too and they need to be warned. The update says: "U.S. authorities strictly enforce entry requirements. Expect scrutiny at ports of entry, including of electronic devices. Comply and be forthcoming in all interactions with border authorities. If you are denied entry, you could be detained while awaiting deportation."
