🇨🇦 Ontario PNP confirms current applications will continue under existing rules

During the NCIC conference, Ontario PNP representatives clarified that applications submitted under the current framework will continue to be processed under the rules that were in effect at the time of submission.

According to the program representatives:

▫️ Existing applications will continue to be assessed using the eligibility requirements that applied when the application was submitted

▫️ There will be no changes to the assessment process for files already received under the current system

▫️ Processing timelines for existing applications are also not expected to change because of the upcoming redesign

This clarification is important for candidates who were concerned about how the upcoming Ontario PNP system changes could affect already-submitted applications.

06/01/2026

During the NCIC conference, Ontario PNP representatives confirmed that the upcoming system redesign will not affect the province’s 2026 nomination allocation.

According to the program representatives:

▫️ Ontario continues processing existing applications while waiting for the redesigned system and new draws to resume

▫️ The province expects to fully use its entire 2026 nomination allocation by the end of the year

▫️ Earlier this year, the federal government allocated an additional 5000 nomination spaces for Francophone candidates across Canada

▫️ Another additional 5000 nomination spaces were allocated for healthcare occupations nationwide

Ontario PNP also emphasized that Francophone immigration and healthcare remain major priorities for both the federal and provincial governments.

🇨🇦 New Express Entry French Draw: What May 28 Means For You

Express Entry just ran another large French-language draw — and the numbers matter if you speak (or are learning) French.

On May 28, 2026, IRCC held a new French-language proficiency Express Entry draw and issued 4,500 Invitations to Apply, with a CRS cut-off of 409 and a tie-breaking date of April 29, 2026. This was already the sixth French-language draw of 2026, bringing the total to 30,500 invitations for francophone candidates so far this year — a clear signal that French continues to be a federal priority.

To be considered in these category-based French draws, you must first qualify for one of the Express Entry programs (FSW, CEC, or FST) and have valid French results (usually at least NCLC 7 in all abilities on tests such as TEF Canada or TCF Canada). Strong French can significantly impact your CRS, especially when combined with English scores, and in some cases may open opportunities at CRS levels that are lower than typical all-program draws. However, meeting the minimum criteria and being in the pool does not guarantee an invitation; outcomes depend on your ranking, draw size, and evolving IRCC targets.

If you have French skills — or are thinking about taking a French test to strengthen your profile — it may be a good time to review your Express Entry strategy. ATA Immigration can help you understand how French scores affect your CRS, assess your realistic options under category-based selection, and plan next steps aligned with current draw trends.

🇨🇦 Well, new day — new Express Entry draw #418!

On May 28, 2026, IRCC held a new French-language proficiency draw and issued 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs).

📌 Draw details:
▫️ Category: French-language proficiency
▫️ Invitations issued: 4,500
▫️ CRS cut-off score: 409
▫️ Tie-breaking rule: April 29, 2026

Compared to the previous French-language draw held on April 29, the number of invitations increased by 500, while the CRS score increased by 9 points.

This was already the sixth French-language draw of 2026. So far this year, Canada has issued 30,500 invitations to francophone candidates through Express Entry.

Congratulations to everyone who received an ITA today! 🎉

📈 New CEC Draw: Higher CRS, More ITAs – What It Means

IRCC has just held a new Canadian Experience Class draw — and even with more invitations issued, the CRS cut-off has climbed again.

On May 27, 2026, IRCC held Express Entry draw #417 for the Canadian Experience Class and issued 3,000 Invitations to Apply. The minimum CRS score was 518, with a tie‑breaking date of April 30, 2026 at 03:16:01 UTC. This is the highest CEC cut‑off so far in 2026, and follows the April 28 CEC draw, where 2,000 candidates were invited with a CRS cut‑off of 514.

IRCC has also updated the Express Entry pool distribution. There are now 17,945 candidates in the 501–600 CRS range and 75,348 in the 451–500 range, with a total of 238,847 profiles in the pool. These numbers help explain why cut‑offs remain high: many strong candidates are competing for limited invitations, and past scores do not guarantee outcomes in future draws.

If you received an ITA in this round, the next step is to prepare a complete, accurate permanent residence application within the required deadline. If you are still in the pool, it may be a good time to review your profile, explore realistic options to strengthen your CRS, or assess whether other pathways (such as provincial programs or work/study strategies) could support your long‑term plan. ATA Immigration can help you understand your options and navigate the process with clear, practical guidance.

🇨🇦 Сьогодні хочу поділитися важливою новиною щодо моєї практики.

Після додаткового навчання та успішного складання іспиту я офіційно розширила свої повноваження в межах Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).

IRB складається з чотирьох відділів, і відтепер я представляю клієнтів у кожному з них:

⚖️ Immigration Division (ID) — недопуск, кримінальна та медична недопустимість, перевірки утримання під вартою

📋Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) — апеляції щодо сімейного спонсорства, збереження статусу постійного резидента, наказів про видворення .

🛡 Refugee Protection Division (RPD) —

🚨 IRCC held a new Canadian Experience Class draw today — and CRS scores continue moving upward.

🇨🇦 Express Entry draw #417 took place on May 27, 2026:
▫️ 3,000 invitations issued
▫️ minimum CRS score: 518
▫️ tie-breaking rule: April 30, 2026 at 03:16:01 UTC

This was the first CEC draw since April 28, when IRCC invited 2,000 candidates with a CRS cut-off of 514.

📊 Interestingly, May has so far included only 2 Provincial Nominee Program draws, compared to multiple PNP-focused rounds seen earlier this year.

IRCC also finally updated the Express Entry pool distribution after a long pause:
▫️ 17,945 candidates are currently in the 501–600 CRS range
▫️ 75,348 candidates remain in the 451–500 range
▫️ the total Express Entry pool now stands at 238,847 profiles

Even with a larger draw size, the CRS score increased again — making 518 the highest CEC cut-off recorded in 2026.

So far this year:
▫️ 37,250 invitations have been issued through CEC draws
▫️ 75,341 invitations have been issued overall through Express Entry

🎉 Congratulations to everyone who received an invitation in this round!

If you recently received an ITA and need professional assistance with your permanent residence application, ATA Immigration Services is ready to help you navigate the next stage of the process.

📌 No New Dedicated PR Pathway for Ukrainians: What This Really Means

The Government of Canada has officially responded to petition e‑6866 – and there will NOT be a new, separate PR program specifically for Ukrainians at this time.

The petition called for a dedicated permanent residence pathway for Ukrainians, especially those in Canada under CUAET. In its response, the government pointed to existing special measures (such as the Ukraine Family Reunification Pathway and open work permits) and confirmed that a new, standalone PR program for most Ukrainians will not be introduced at this stage. Ukrainians are expected to use existing immigration programs to move from temporary to permanent status, where eligible.

In practice, this means that pathways like Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs (including Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program), and family sponsorship remain the main options. At the same time, the system itself is changing: Express Entry is being modified, and significant updates to Ontario PNP are expected on May 30. According to current information, these Ontario PNP changes will apply to new candidates and should not affect applicants who have already submitted and are waiting for a decision.

This is disappointing news for many, but it also makes careful planning more important than ever. If you are in Canada under CUAET or another temporary status, it may be a good time to review your profile, understand which existing programs could fit your situation, and stay up to date on upcoming policy changes. ATA Immigration continues to monitor these developments and can help you understand your options within Canada’s current immigration system.
