MY STORY
Merle Thomas is a graduate from Humber College Institute with a Bachelor Degree in Paralegal Studies, diploma in Paralegal Education, and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (graduated with Honors). She is a licensee of the Law Society of Ontario in good-standing, simultaneously a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits or Commissioner of Oaths. Being a licensed paralegal, enables her to practice in various areas of law in Ontario and to give legal advice to the public. As a commissioner for taking affidavits she is authorized to take affidavits and administer other legal oaths, affirmations, or declarations in accordance with the provisions of the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act.
Merle founded her paralegal firm in 2011 as "Tam Legal Services" for the sole purpose of representing clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board, who are alleged to be in breach of the Residential Tenancies Act. As one knowing the importance of having a safe and comfortable place to live, combined with her personal experiences; Merle has chosen to dedicate her practice as a landlord and tenant specialist to vigorously defend both landlord and tenant. Tam Legal is operating from Toronto, Ontario and provides legal services throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) including the municipalities of Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Mississauga, and Brampton.
Merle keep it simple: meticulously committed to provide accessible and affordable legal services to Ontarian, without compromising high-quality and competent work. At the same time, we aim to assist low-income families by giving them several options to defend their fundamental rights "housing". By doing so we intend to narrow the gap that has created an imbalance and disadvantage for these families within the legal system. Merle has represented both landlord and tenant alike, she has a broad perspective and 9 years of experience in dealing with hearings, mediation, Case Management Hearing and more before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
