As part of CREA’s PAC at Home campaign, TRREB’s Government Relations Committee Members recently met with Members of Parliament to discuss key housing advocacy priorities impacting homebuyers. We presented recommendations to launch a renewed National Housing Strategy focused on increasing the supply of “missing middle” ownership housing, including townhomes, multiplexes, and mid-rise developments. Recent consumer polling by Abacus Data shows that 66% of non-homeowners in Ontario still aspire to own a home someday.
We thank the Members of Parliament who recently met with TRREB representatives for your time and thoughtful engagement, including the Hon. Shafqat Ali MP, President of the Treasury Board & MP Brampton-Chinguacousy Park, Hon. Rob Oliphant MP, MP Don Valley West, Yvan Baker, MP Etobicoke-Centre, MP Michael Ma, MP Markham-Unionville, Salma Zahid, MP Scarborough Centre - Don Valley East, Michael Coteau, MP Scarborough Woburn, Melissa Lantsman, Co-Deputy Conservative Party Leader & MP Thornhill, The Hon. Ruby Sahota, Secretary of State & MP Brampton-North, and Doug Shipley, MP, Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte. We also took the opportunity to share customized market reports for their individual ridings to give them a better sense of how the market is performing in their area.
TRREB looks forward to continuing to build strong working relationships that support better housing outcomes for residents and the REALTOR® community.
