Dearest friends,
In these difficult times, there is a family in Iran that needs our help.
A father and a grandmother disabled by stroke, a daughter with epilepsy and Rasoul, the only breadwinner, got disabled lately. No income for monthly medical expenses with no insurance.
Rasoul is a 39-year-old who lives in a small village in Shiraz. Like millions of Iranians, Rasoul has taken care of his two elderly parents and sister in difficult circumstances, made even worse recently by the pandemic and economic recession.
When Rasoul’s father suffered a serious stroke, the family had to take out loans to just survive day-to-day. Life was difficult but it was manageable.
Things took a turn for the worse when his mother’s health deteriorated, and the family incurred unexpected medical expenses.
Today the medical bills are piling up and the family is on the verge of bankruptcy. In Iran, unpaid debt can land you in prison. Since Rasoul inherited his father’s debt, he is now facing the real prospect of jail time.
Your support will mean so much to this family and all donations will be given directly to paying off the debt.
Setareh Shahlaei will be responsible for delivering the funds in a transparent way and we will keep you updated on this development.
There has been so much suffering this year around the world and group fundraisers have done so much to help those in need.
We need to rely on the Iranian community and those friends of the community to help us take care of our own.
