Recent immigrants in Canada are more likely to be employed than those born in the country. The report found that in 2021, the employment rate for immigrants who arrived in Canada in the last five years was 80.8%, compared to 77.2% for Canadian-born individuals.

The findings of this report highlight the importance of policies and programs that support the integration of immigrants into the Canadian labour market, such as language training, credential recognition, and job-matching services. These efforts can help ensure that immigrants are able to fully contribute to Canada's economy and society while also benefiting from the opportunities and prosperity of their new home.

Over the next three years, Canada will aim to welcome roughly 1.45 million immigrants; with 60% projected to be through economic class programs.
