Employer Sponsored Visa Update – Salary Threshold Increasing from 1 July 2026

If you are an employer considering nominating an employee for an employer sponsored visa, please note that the minimum salary threshold for your employee’s salary is currently $76,515, but will increase to $79,499 from 1 July 2026.

If your intended employee’s salary is below the new threshold, we recommend considering lodging the nomination application before 1 July 2026.

For employers intending to sponsor under the:
• Subclass 482 (Skills in Demand Visa), or
• Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa)
please remember that Labour Market Testing (LMT) is required in most circumstances, including a minimum advertising period of 4 weeks.

If sponsorship is part of your future workforce planning, now is the time to take action.

If your relationship has broken down after applying for a partner visa, it does not always mean the end of your visa pathway.

In this video, our Senior Lawyer Stephanie Vejar explains the Family Violence Provisions and the different ways you may still be able to continue your visa application, including:
• where there is a shared child
• if the sponsor has passed away
• if family violence has occurred

Family violence can include more than just physical abuse, it may also involve emotional abuse, coercive control, financial or visa-related abuse.

May marks Domestic Violence Prevention Month, including Domestic Violence Remembrance Day. A time to remember those who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence, and stand with survivors and their families. 🕯️

Family violence is not always physical. For visa holders, it can include threats about visas or deportation, financial control, isolation, intimidation, and emotional abuse.

No one should feel trapped because of their visa status. If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence and is worried about visa options, seek legal advice immediately.

Feeling incredibly grateful today 💙

Our Registered Migration Agent Sarah Madumere received this unexpected gift from a happy client!

We achieved a wonderful outcome for this family. Their visas were granted after a long and complex matter involving adding an offshore child to an onshore partner visa application, as well as multiple name and date of birth changes evidenced and explained to the Department.

Receiving such a thoughtful gift and heartfelt thanks means so much. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

So happy for our clients and their new chapter ahead.
