LK has been a sponsor of the Law Society of South Australia and Women Lawyers' Association of SA's Margaret Nyland Long Lunch for more than a decade and it is always a terrific event. Last Friday's lunch was again one to remember, with insights from guest speaker the Hon Former Chief Justice of South Australia, Christopher Kourakis AC SC.

We look forward to another fabulous event in 2027!

In May, the LK team was busy not only delivering outcomes for clients and solving complex legal issues, but also continuing our commitment to giving back to the community.

We were proud to participate in JusticeNet SA’s 2026 Walk for Justice, helping contribute to their incredible $200,000 fundraising goal in support of legal services for vulnerable members of the community.

We also attended the 2026 Yalari Gala Fundraising Dinner, where we had the privilege of presenting the LK Yalari CORRIE Award, recognising the values of Compassion, Openness, Respect, Resilience, Inclusiveness and Excellence to a Yalari student.

And our talented team of lawyers and “bakers” hosted a fantastic morning tea in support of Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raising vital funds for people impacted by cancer.

We’re proud to support causes that make a meaningful difference in the communities where we live and work, and we are grateful to our team for their continuing contribution.

On 25 March 2026, the Australian Government proposed a significant suite of amendments to Australia’s security of critical infrastructure regulatory framework to strengthen national security and resilience.

These proposed reforms to the SOCI Act and CIRMP Rules include:

Enhanced Ministerial directions powers – Aiming to provide greater Ministerial flexibility, and new powers, to accommodate and respond to the specific circumstances of cyber security and other incidents affecting critical infrastructure assets.

Enhanced requirements for entities under their Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Programs – For high-risk critical asset classes within the energy, communications, transport, water and sewerage sectors, the reforms include extensive new requirements, focused on minimising or eliminating vulnerabilities in respect of supply chain, cyber/information security, personnel and physical security hazards, as well as all-hazards (under a principles-based approach, and having particular regard to risks arising from foreign ownership, control or influence).

Owners and operators of critical assets should remain abreast of ongoing developments and the foreshadowed step-up in powers and obligations. Affected entities should review their governance mechanisms, policies, systems and procedures, conduct a gap analysis and identify areas for attention in preparedness for the proposed amendments.
