When is it discrimination?

Discrimination occurs when there is unfair treatment based on personal characteristics in an area of public life that causes loss or humiliation.

Examples of personal characteristics include race, age, disability, gender identity, and pregnancy.

The unfair treatment can occur in many situations including during work, when you're shopping, and at school or university (just to name a few).
