NSW Business and Skilled Migration has announced that an invitation round for the Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa will take place in the first week of March 2026.

To ensure invitations are issued based on the most current information available, applicants are advised to ensure that Expression of Interests (EOIs) in SkillSelect are up to date by COB Sunday, 1 March 2026.

Migration Tasmania has provided an update on the number of ROIs that have been invited to apply for nomination for the Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa and Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa in its latest invitation round conducted on 12 February 2026.

Here is a breakdown of the invitations issued in this round:
- Subclass 190 visa - 38 ROIs invited
- Subclass 491 visa - 26 ROIs invited

The lowest scores invited:
- Subclass 190 visa - 50 points (Orange pass)
- Subclass 491 visa - 36 points (Orange pass)

The total number of nomination place remaining in the 2025-26 program year are as follows:

The ACT Government has provided an update on its latest skilled migration nomination invitation round, which was held on 29 January 2026. As part of this round, it issued a total of 246 nomination invitations for the Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa and 237 nomination invitations for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa.

Here is a breakdown of the invitations issued under each pathway:

The ACT has a fixed number of nomination places available each month (pro-rated against the annual allocation). The highest ranked Matrix in each occupation were invited to apply for ACT nomination. The cut off for selection depended on the remaining monthly allocation, the date and time of Matrix submission, occupation cap and demand. The greater the demand for an occupation, the higher the rank of the Matrix score invited.

Canberra Matrix submissions in occupations in critical sectors may be prioritised.

The total number of nomination invitations issued in the 2025-26 program year to date are as follows:
- 338 nomination invitations (out of 800 available places) for the Subclass 190 visa
- 322 invitations (out of 800 available places) for the Subclass 491 visa

The next invitation round is scheduled to take in the week of 23 February 2026.

Skilled and Business Migration South Australia (SA) has provided an update on the number of nomination invitations issued in February 2026 for the Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa and Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa.

Here is a breakdown of the invitations issued in this round:
- 227 nomination invitations for a Subclass 190 visa
- 137 nomination invitations for a Subclass 491 visa

The total number of nomination invitations issued in the 2025-26 program year to date are as follows:
- 837 nomination invitations (out of 1350 available places) for the Subclass 190 visa
- 458 invitations (out of 900 available places) for the Subclass 491 visa

Skilled and Business Migration will continue to issue invitations monthly. The next invitation round will take place in early March 2026.

NSW Business & Skilled Migration has announced that Subclass 491 Pathway 3 is now closed to new applications for this program year. Due to an overwhelming response, they have reached their allocation.

Due to the high volume of applications under Pathway 3, this will also impact the estimated 6-week processing time.

You may request an expedited assessment if within ten working days, any of the following will occur:
- You or your partner’s current visa will expire;
- You or your partner’s English, skills assessment or passport will expire;
- You will lose points for age and this will bring your total points below the minimum required for the visa.

NSW Business & Skilled Migration has announced that applications for Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa nominations under Pathway 3 for the 2025-26 program year are now open.

The following update has been provided:

Subclass 491 Visa Pathway 3 – Regional NSW Graduate:

- to apply for nomination under this pathway, you must have completed a bachelor's degree, master's degree (coursework or research) or PhD from an education institution located in a designated regional area of NSW
- only occupations that are included on the NSW Regional Skills List are eligible to apply for nomination under Pathway 3
- your qualifying study must be related to your nominated (or closely related) occupation and have been completed within the two years immediately before applying for NSW nomination

Subclass 491 Visa Pathway 1 - Work in Regional NSW:

NSW Business & Skilled Migration has confirmed that Subclass 491 Pathway 1 is now closed to new applications for this program year. Due to an overwhelming response, they have reached their allocation.

Due to the high volume of applications under Pathway 1, this will also impact the estimated 6-week processing time.

You may request an expedited assessment if within ten working days, any of the following will occur:

The NSW Government has provided the following update on the state nomination program for the 2025-26 year:

Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa:
- three invitation rounds have been completed to date for this program year
- monthly invitation rounds will recommence from January 2026
- as of December 2025, approximately 25% of annual nomination places have been allocated

Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa:
- Pathway 1 – Work in Regional NSW will open on 19 January 2026. All occupations that are eligible for the Subclass 491 visa can apply under Pathway 1, provided applicants meet the minimum income threshold and have been employed for at least six months
- Pathway 2 - Invitation by NSW - the need to conduct an invitation round under this pathway will be determined following the demand for nominations under Pathways 1 and 3. If required, an invitation round for Pathway 2 will occur in April 2026 at the earliest. Updates will be provided prior to an invitation round being conducted
- Pathway 3 – Regional NSW Graduate will open on 19 January 2026. To apply under this pathway, you must have a bachelor degree or higher degree from an education institution located in a designated regional area of NSW. Only occupations that appear on the NSW Regional Skills List are eligible to apply

- Applications will be processed in chronological order
- only valid applications will be considered. Ensure that your application satisfies all NSW eligibility requirements
- all supporting documents must be valid at the time of application and should remain valid for at least five days thereafter
- Applications take on average up to six weeks to process

Priority processing:
Applicants may request priority processing if any of the following will occur within ten working days:
- The applicant or their partner's current visa will expire
- The applicant or their partner’s English language test, skills assessment, or passport, will expire
- The applicant will lose points for age, and this will bring the applicant’s total points below the minimum required for the visa

Holiday closure:
The NSW Government office will close from 24 December 2025 and will reopen on 12 January 2026. If your (or your partner’s) visa, English language test, skills assessment, or passport are due to expire during the closure period and you need to request an expedited assessment, contact NSW Business and Skilled Migration by 12 December 2025 to allow sufficient time to address any urgent matters before the closure: https://ow.ly/W6XE50XB5EG

Skilled & Business Migration South Australia (SA) has announced that applications are now open to Registrations of Interest (ROI) from eligible applicants who are living and working in South Australia.

Offshore applicants will be invited directly from their Expression of Interest (EOI) lodged in Skill Select and are therefore not required to submit an ROI.

A total of 2,250 nomination places have been allocated to SA for the 2025-26 General Skilled Migration program year, comprising:
- Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa: 1,350 places
- Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa: 900 places

The Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) has today announced the state and territory nomination allocations for the 2025-26 year, with a total of 20,350 places available under the program.

The Northern Territory (NT) Government has announced that it has received its full nomination allocation for the 2025-26 General Skilled Migration Program from the Australian Government.

A total of 1,650 nominations have been allocated to the NT, as follows:
- 850 nominations for the Subclass 190 Skilled (Nominated) visa; and
- 800 nominations for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa.

The NT has received an increased allocation of 50 nomination places this year, compared with the previous year (it received 1,600 nomination places in the 2024-25 year).

The NT nomination program will open to new applications for all onshore and offshore streams on 24 November 2025.
