Our legal and management teams recently came together in Victor Harbor for our 2026 Beyond the Office (BTO) conference – an opportunity to step away from day-to-day practice, connect as one collaborative team and focus on the future of the firm.

The conference combined strategy, professional development and team-building activities, including sessions on leadership, innovation and the firm’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, alongside plenty of opportunities to strengthen connections, share ideas and spend time together outside the office.

It was a great few days that left our team feeling connected, energised and excited about the opportunities ahead for both the firm and our people.

Earlier this week, a group of our staff took part in a refreshing walk along the River Torrens as part of JusticeNet SA’s annual Walk for Justice.

Held during Law Week on National Pro Bono Day, the Walk for Justice raises vital funds to support JusticeNet SA’s mission of connecting those in need with vital legal support and acknowledges the legal profession's commitment to ensuring access to justice. At the conclusion of the event participants enjoyed a well-earned light breakfast and coffee at Adelaide Oval to celebrate.

As lawyers, we are committed to improving access to justice within our community through voluntary pro bono work. Our pro bono committee encourages participation across all levels of the firm and works to ensure our efforts are meaningful and responsive to community need.

A big thank you to our Pro Bono Committee for organising our involvement, and to everyone who participated in or supported the event.

Dr Stone shared valuable insights on the global energy landscape, geopolitical tensions, inflationary pressures and what it all means for Australian businesses navigating an increasingly complex economic environment.

Last week, a group of staff and esteemed guests attended the HAS Foundation's Mother's Day Luncheon on behalf of DMAW Lawyers. This cherished event is the major annual fundraiser for the HAS Foundation and is a day to honour the resilience and love that define motherhood.

Guests enjoyed a beautifully curated three‑course luncheon alongside an inspiring program hosted by MC Elspeth Hussey. The afternoon featured a panel discussion with Bel Sloane, Kelly Golding, and Stephanie McConachy, who shared powerful stories of love, courage, and strength, guided by Positive Minds Australia’s Madhavi Narwana Parker. The event also included live entertainment Thank God Its Friday presented by Tutti Arts and a live auction led by Bronte Manuel.

It was a privilege to attend this meaningful event, bringing people together through connection, thoughtful conversation, and the shared joy of giving, all in support of the HAS Foundation’s vital work with South Australian children living with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

Today we celebrate our incredible team of administrative professionals, whose dedication and expertise make a real impact every day. The support you provide across the firm is invaluable and plays a vital role in our performance and in helping our clients and people thrive.

We asked our CEO Bernice Witkowski to share a few words in recognition of the occasion:

"Thank you to our administrative professionals for the important contribution they make to the firm every day. Their willingness to help, attention to detail, and ability to keep everything organised ensure even the busiest days run more smoothly. The professionalism they bring, and the way they support both our people and the firm, makes a genuine difference. We’re so lucky to have them as part of our team!"

To mark the occasion, our team came together for a well-deserved morning tea on our level 12 rooftop terrace.

On behalf of the firm, thank you for everything you do. Your contribution is truly appreciated and central to our success.
