Charlton Rowley was pleased to represent former Sydney Swans and Collingwood AFL player and ruck-forward for the Broadview Football Club, Mr Jesse White, in his recent Supreme Court victory.
A recent South Australian Amateur Football League tribunal found Mr White guilty of striking and imposed a three-match penalty, ruling him ineligible to play finals.
Mr White appealed the tribunal’s decision to the Supreme Court of South Australia, on the basis that procedural fairness and the rules of natural justice had not been given in the tribunal hearing.
The Supreme Court agreed with the appeal, and declared the decision of the Tribunal null and void. A copy of the decision can be found below.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision, the Tribunal reconvened days later to rehear Mr White’s charge of striking where a lighter penalty was imposed allowing Mr White to participate in the final home and away game of the season and qualify for the finals.
As a result, Mr White took to the field and was instrumental in Broadview qualifying for finals and achieving promotion to Division 1 in the Adelaide Footy League in 2023.
Charlton Rowley would like to wish Jesse White, his teammates and the Broadview Football Club the best of luck in their upcoming Grand Final.
