IICRA–AAOIFI Seminar | Registration Still Open

The International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA), in cooperation with the Accounting and Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), invites interested professionals to register for the upcoming seminar: “The Impact of Exceptional Circumstances on Contractual Obligations”

The seminar will provide valuable insights into the legal and Shari’ah treatment of exceptional circumstances and force majeure, with reference to the UAE Civil Transactions Law, AAOIFI Shari’ah Standard No. 36, and relevant judicial and arbitral practices.

Participants will also receive a Certificate of Participation upon attending the seminar.

The International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the 19th Certified Islamic Arbitrator & Expert (CIAE) Training Program, held virtually from 11 to 14 June 2026.

The program commenced with remarks by Dr. Rami Abudaqqa, Secretary General of IICRA, who highlighted the Centre's role in advancing reconciliation, arbitration, and dispute resolution within the Islamic finance industry, as well as the growing need for qualified professionals capable of supporting the sector's continued development.

The 19th edition brought together participants from the United Kingdom, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Nigeria, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates, representing a diverse range of professional backgrounds, including arbitration, law, banking, academia, Islamic finance, and dispute resolution.

The program was delivered by two distinguished experts: Suzanne Mounir Abdallah, PHD, who led the Commercial Arbitration module during the first two days, and Mr. Abdulrahim Adi, who delivered the Islamic Finance module during Days 3 and 4. Their sessions provided participants with practical and specialized insights into arbitration, Islamic finance transactions, Shari'ah governance, and dispute resolution mechanisms.

Throughout the four-day program, participants engaged in interactive discussions and practical learning on key issues relating to commercial arbitration, Islamic finance, and the application of Shari'ah principles in contemporary financial and commercial transactions.

IICRA extends its sincere appreciation to the trainers and participants for their valuable contributions to the success of the program and remains committed to promoting excellence in Islamic arbitration and dispute resolution through specialized training and capacity-building initiatives.

Participants are also informed that the CIAE Examination (English) is scheduled to take place on Friday, 21 August 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Dubai Time).

The International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA), in cooperation with Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), is pleased to announce a specialized seminar entitled: “The Impact of Exceptional Circumstances on Contractual Obligations”.

🎓 Day 1 Successfully Underway!

The International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA) is pleased to announce the successful commencement of the 19th Certified Islamic Arbitrator & Expert (CIAE) Training Program.

Today's session, led by Dr. Suzanne Munir Abdallah, brought together participants from different countries and professional backgrounds, including arbitrators, lawyers, legal consultants, academics, Islamic finance practitioners, and dispute resolution professionals.

During the opening session, Mr. Musheer Ahmad, Head of the Communication Department at IICRA, welcomed the participants and highlighted the increasing role of arbitration and dispute resolution in supporting the continued growth of the Islamic finance industry.

Over the next four days, participants will explore key topics in commercial arbitration, Islamic finance dispute resolution, and the practical application of Shari'ah principles in contemporary business and finance.

Dr. Suzanne Abdallah is a distinguished legal practitioner, arbitrator, and academic with extensive experience in litigation and arbitration across the Middle East. With more than 17 years of professional experience, she has successfully handled a wide range of disputes in the fields of construction, real estate, banking, commercial transactions, maritime law, intellectual property, and international arbitration.

Currently serving as a Partner at OGH Legal, Dr. Suzanne regularly advises clients on complex cross-border disputes and international arbitration proceedings. She is also a respected legal educator, contributing to the development of legal and arbitration practice through her academic and professional engagements.
