The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) has launched the above call centre to provide proactive, real-time support to road traffic accident (RTA) victims, ensuring faster processing of short-term insurance claims.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a global plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression. Part of this vision is creating safer transport systems and protecting lives on the road.
In September 2021, the first United Nations (UN) Road Safety Performance Review for the Republic of Zimbabwe evaluated the country’s progress in improving road safety and effective post-crash response. Improving support after accidents is essential to saving lives and reducing long-term harm.
To strengthen post-crash response, the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) launched a national emergency call centre. By improving emergency response and support for accident victims, the 591 call centre contributes to Zimbabwe’s road safety commitments and supports the broader goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
