🏡 A new beginning.

After occupying a farm in Stellenbosch since 2015, a family of five approached the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic for assistance with relocation negotiations.

Through a negotiated settlement, the family was able to purchase a home in Klapmuts and took possession of their property on 25 August 2026. The property was registered in their names the following day.

What began as uncertainty has become a new chapter filled with security, dignity, and hope.

This is why we do what we do. 💛

💜 Planning Today to Protect Tomorrow 💜

As part of a Women's Day event held at Doornbosch Hall on Monday, 10 August, Stellenbosch University Law Clinic's Candidate Legal Practitioner, Brandon Taylor, and Training Coordinator, Emily Anderson, had the privilege of presenting a Wills Information Session to 80 women from the community.

The session explored:
✔️ What a will is
✔️ Why every adult should consider having a will
✔️ What is included in a will
✔️ How effective estate planning can help protect assets and provide peace of mind for loved ones

While the topic of wills and estate planning is often postponed or overlooked, taking the time to plan can make a significant difference for those we leave behind. We are grateful for the opportunity to share practical knowledge that empowers individuals to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

On 29 July, two of our candidate legal practitioners, Chloe Neelse and Kerline Goeieman, presented training sessions to 25 pensioners in Wemmershoek on financial literacy and farm occupiers' rights and responsibilities under the Extension of Security of Tenure Act (ESTA).

The financial literacy component focused on practical guidance relating to budgeting, savings and investments, while the ESTA session provided attendees with valuable information on their rights and responsibilities as occupiers, as well as the eviction process after termination of employment or housing agreements.

The sessions were warmly received, with participants actively engaging in discussions and asking insightful questions throughout. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to community education and empowerment through legal and financial literacy initiatives.
