PUBLIC NOTICE: SCHEDULED 12-HOUR WATER SHUTDOWN
Govan Mbeki Municipality hereby notifies all residents and businesses of scheduled Phase 1 maintenance to be conducted by Rand Water.
This essential infrastructure work is set for Friday, 29 May 2026, and is expected to last for a duration of 12 hours, commencing at 07:00 and concluding at 19:00.
During this maintenance period, the entire municipal area may experience significantly reduced water supply or low pressure.
All community members are strongly urged to store an adequate supply of clean water in advance to meet their essential needs for the duration of the shutdown.
This includes water for drinking, cooking and basic hygiene.
To assist in maintaining reservoir levels and ensuring the system recovers quickly, we request that you suspend all non-essential water usage.
This includes activities such as watering gardens, washing vehicles or filling swimming pools.
Your cooperation in reducing demand is vital to prevent the complete depletion of local reserves.
While limited water tankers will be deployed to critical areas, residents should rely primarily on their personal storage.
We encourage everyone to monitor official municipal communication channels for any further updates or changes to the schedule.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this necessary maintenance.
