Cancer Month | As part of our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives, MNS Attorneys was proud to support and participate in the Walkable Journey Cancer Walk.

The initiative was founded by President Joyce Machuisa, who is living with cancer. Mme Juliet Motsomi, the mother of our late colleague Mmapho Motsumi, is also a member of the movement.

During the event, Nonhlanhla Twala our Candidate Attorney was given the opportunity to speak about MNS Attorneys and the firm's commitment to making a meaningful difference in our communities.

With over 1,000 attendees, including individuals living with cancer and cancer survivors, the walk was a powerful reminder of the strength, courage and resilience of the human spirit.

It was a truly moving experience to stand alongside individuals who journeys reflect hope, perseverance and the determination to keep going. Their stories remind us of the importance of raising awareness, offering support and standing in solidarity with those affected by cancer.

At MNS Attorneys, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that uplift our communities, inspire hope and make a lasting impact.

Together, we walk for hope, honour every journey and celebrate the strength of survivors.

On 15 September 2026 (today), the Madlanga Commission began a new stream: City of Johannesburg’s Metro Police Department (“JMPD”).

The stream is tracing evidence of the possible infiltration of the JMPD by criminal elements and syndicates.

MNS Attorneys is instructed by the City of Johannesburg’s Group Legal Department to monitor the proceedings in this stream and keep a look out for the City’s best interests. It is anticipated that the evidence in this stream will now continue towards the end of September 2026.

As we celebrate Women's month, what does this occasion mean to you, and why is it important to recognise women making an impact in the legal profession?

This years’ Women’s Day commemorates the 70th anniversary of the historic Women’s March against pass laws in 1956 and reminds us of strength in diversity and unity.

For me Women’s month is a celebration of the ongoing resilience and the contributions of women in championing justice, breaking down systematic barriers that have enabled me to live a life that the women of 1956 could only have imagined.

The organised defiance of the 1956 Women’s March played an important role in repealing statutory influx controls, common-law biases relating to the rights of women to property, their legal standing and status in society and child guardianship, all of which has impacted not only the legal profession but the laws which govern South Africa as a whole.
