Togo has become the sixth African country to grant visa-free entry to all African passport holders, effective 18 May 2026. Citizens of African Union member states may now enter Togo without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.

This move supports greater intra-African mobility and regional business travel, while aligning with broader efforts across Africa to improve economic integration. More than 60% of African destinations now offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to African travellers.

Travellers must still complete an online pre-arrival declaration at least 24 hours before departure.

Mauritius has firmly established itself as one of the most preferred destinations for foreign nationals seeking a strategic base for business, career growth, or retirement. With political stability, investor-friendly policies, and an exceptional quality of life, it is increasingly becoming the jurisdiction of choice for internationally mobile individuals.

At the heart of this appeal is a streamlined immigration framework built around the Occupation Permit, a combined work and residence permit available to investors, professionals, and self-employed individuals for up to 10 years.

Whether you are looking to establish a business with access to African and international markets, take up employment in a growing financial services or technology sector, or retire in comfort on a stable income, Mauritius has a structured and accessible pathway for you.

When planning long-term relocation to South Africa, it is important to understand the differences between the available immigration pathways and which option best suits your circumstances.

The Retired Person Visa is a temporary residence visa that requires proof of a prescribed monthly income.

In contrast, the Financially Independent Permit, is based on a high-net-worth and once-off government fee, granting direct permanent residence without the need to demonstrate ongoing income.

Applicants for a Financially Independent Permit are generally required to hold valid long-term temporary residence status, and processing times are significantly longer. For this reason, the Retired Person Visa is often recommended as a practical first step.

An integrated strategy for your long-term residence in South Africa is essential to ensure a smooth and compliant transition.

With 381 verified employers contributing last year, the Critical Skills Survey has become one of the most credible private-sector datasets on skills demand in South Africa.

That input is helping shape how policy responds to business needs. This year, we want to build on that foundation and hear from even more organisations across the market.

If your organisation is not represented in the data, it is not represented in the outcome.

The survey is now open. Add your input: https://bit.ly/3PNBWTV

Last year, 82% of employers said the Critical Skills List catered to their needs, showing stronger alignment with business requirements.

That progress was driven by organisations contributing their data and reflecting real hiring needs. This year, we want to know whether that alignment still holds and whether the list continues to reflect the skills your organisation needs most.

Contribute your input and help shape what comes next.

South Africa’s newly approved Immigration White Paper signals one of the most significant shifts to immigration policy in decades.

While the White Paper contains several positive and much-needed reforms, it also points to a potentially more restrictive future approach to Permanent Residence (“PR”). For many highly skilled foreign nationals currently working in the country, it may be time to seriously consider applying for PR sooner rather than later.
