🚨 COMMUNITY TRAFFIC UPDATE | AAD 2026 🇿🇦
If you live, work, commute or travel through Pierre van Ryneveld, Waterkloof, Erasmusrand and surrounding areas, please take note:
The Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2026 event takes place at AFB Waterkloof from 16–20 September and increased traffic and temporary road closures are expected.
We’re sharing this information now so you can plan ahead, avoid unnecessary delays and get where you need to be safely. 👇
🚗 16–18 SEPTEMBER: TRADE DAYS
07:00–20:00
Roads around AFB Waterkloof will remain open, but traffic may become slow-moving, particularly during peak arrival and departure times.
⏰ Give yourself extra time and consider adjusting your usual route.
🚧 19–20 SEPTEMBER: PUBLIC DAYS
04:00–20:00
Temporary road closures will be in place around Solomon Mahlangu Drive.
The following will be closed to private vehicles:
🔸 Solomon Mahlangu Drive (M10): between the R21 and Kruger Avenue buses/park-and-ride only
🔸 Kruger Avenue & Solomon Mahlangu Drive: closed
🔸 Pierre van Ryneveld & Solomon Mahlangu Drive: closed
🔸 R21 South & Solomon Mahlangu Drive: closed
🔸 Union Avenue & Solomon Mahlangu Drive junction: closed
🚌 Buses and park-and-ride vehicles will be accommodated on designated routes.
🛣️ GETTING TO AAD
✅ Recommended route:
N1 → Botha Avenue / Rigel Avenue off-ramps → Gates 5, 6 & 7
🔁 Alternative:
R21 → Nellmapius Drive → Gates 5, 6 & 7
🚕 E-hailing:
Drop-off points are available at Veldpou Street (Dastek) and around Gates 5, 6 & 7 on Van Ryneveld.
🚌 Gautrain Bus:
Centurion Station ↔ Gate 1 at Veldpou Street & Solomon Mahlangu Drive.
🅿️ PARK & RIDE OPTIONS
Park-and-ride facilities are available at:
• SAAF 68 Squadron, Snake Valley Road
• Zwartkops Memorial, Snake Valley Road M24
• Gautrain Station, West Avenue, Centurion
• Armscor, Nossob Drive, Erasmusrand
🏃 ONE MORE COMMUNITY HEADS-UP
The Exxaro Road Race takes place on Saturday, 19 September, from 06:00–12:00 around the SuperSport Park area.
This may mean additional congestion on Public Day 1, so please factor this into your plans if you're travelling through the area.

2026 Air show PLAN YOUR ROUTE BEFORE YOU TRAVEL ⚠️

Several roads around Waterkloof are closed for the duration of AAD2026. Check these before you set off:

🚧 R21 and M10 (Solomon Mahlangu Drive) - hard lock where the R21 meets the M10, affecting traffic coming from Kempton Park
🚧 Veldpou Street, near Sasol Dastek - hard lock in place *E-hailing ONLY
🚧 Trichardt Road and Kruger Avenue - hard closure at the intersection, affecting traffic coming from Centurion
🚧 Pierre van Ryneveld and Solomon Mahlangu Drive - closed

Your GPS won't know about these. Give yourself extra time, follow the marshals and signage on the day, and consider leaving the car behind altogether - the Gautrain shuttle and Park and Ride points bypass the worst of it.

Update at Master Pretoria: 4 Aug 2026

1. Ms Nthabiseng Ntsoane’s appointment as acting Master PTA wasn’t renewed after the 1 year period lapsed.

2. ⁠Ms Hlopina Moshidi was appointed as the new acting Master PTA and will remain in this position until a permanent appointment is made.

3. ⁠The Master PTA doesn’t have a stable network cable installed. Upon moving into the office, a temporary fibre cable was installed. Installation of a permanent cable will first be discussed with stakeholders (DOJ, Dept of Public Works, SITA and Telkom).

4. ⁠A temporary VPN was set up for personnel to access the DOJ system from their private internet.

5. ⁠No network cable = telephones. Cell phones was made available for Deputy Masters to make contact with.

6. ⁠The contract with Veritas storage facility is extended on a month-to-month basis until all the files are scanned. If a file cannot be obtained by the Master / Veritas, a dummy file (duplicate file) can be opened at the Master.

7. ⁠Manual / paper submissions of new trusts are not permitted, as per instructions of the Office of the Chief Master.

8. ⁠All files have been stored correctly in the new office. The Master is currently working on the backlog.

9. ⁠The current backlog on *Deceased Estates*: 13,000 outstanding items (statistics on 4 Aug 2026).
