📢 Reminder to accountable institutions: RMCP submissions are due by Friday, 9 October 2026. Ensure you enter "RMCP submission" in the comments section, otherwise the submission button will not activate. ✅

The Financial Intelligence Centre issued Directive 12, which requires specified accountable institutions to submit a risk management and compliance programme (RMCP).

Schedule 1 item numbers 1, 2, 9 and 11 are required to submit their RMCPs by Friday, 9 October 2026.

Accountable institutions must please note Step 5 in the submission process, which is a mandatory requirement to insert a comment. Only once a comment is inserted may RMCPs be submitted.

Failure to enter a comment will prevent the submission button from becoming active, thereby preventing the submission of the RMCP. Once the RMCP is received, the FIC will issue an acknowledgement of receipt.

Accountable institutions that have already successfully submitted their RMCPs may ignore this communication.

High Court Sets Aside Gauteng Jurisdiction Changes

A significant ruling from the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Pretoria has restored the previous court jurisdiction arrangements in Gauteng. The Court reviewed and set aside the jurisdictional changes introduced through Government Notice 7648, confirming that the existing framework established in 2016 (as amended in 2018) remains in force.

This judgment brings much needed certainty for litigants, attorneys, advocates, and businesses regarding where matters should be instituted and heard within the Gauteng Division.

At our firm, we continue to monitor legal developments that impact access to justice and the efficient administration of court proceedings.

We acknowledge the role played by the Pretoria Society of Advocates and the Pretoria Attorneys' Association in bringing this matter before the Court.
