YOU SHOULD HAVE A FILE CONTAINING THE FOLLOWING:
A copy of your LAST valid Will (very important).
Identity documents of the whole family
(Copies of children that have already left home or of own children who live away from you).
Ante nuptial contract (if any) and Divorce order (if any)
All policy contracts (Life/Endowment/Annuity/Short-term). If any policy contracts serve as security by a Bank or Insurance Company, attach a list that states where the contract is and which company's policy it is.
All firearm licenses, drivers' licenses and documents that are applicable to the person.
The registration certificate and license receipts of all vehicles.
Deed of transfer on immovable property, or a list of involved properties (deed descriptions) and where the deeds can be found.
All proof of debt in your favour or details of your debtors.
All leases, partnership agreements and other relevant documents.
A list that states where all your cash accounts (cheque, savings, or fixed deposits) are held. As many as possible of the certificates must be placed in the file together including shares certificates.
Details of your employers, your employers' pension and group insurance.
Income Tax assessment (most recent) and Loan Levy certificates.
The executor must be notified and this file must be handed over to him together with a copy of the Death Certificate or Preliminary Death Certificate as soon as possible after death. The executor must also notity the Master of the High Court within two weeks of the death.
