🤣⛽ PETROL PRICE REALITY CHECK! ⛽🤣

So there I was, cruising around Pinetown on my daily mission of helping buyers and sellers, when I pulled into the garage thinking:

💭 "R500 should give me a decent top-up..."

The attendant looked at me, looked at the pump, looked back at me and said:

🚗💨 "Sir, would you like the fuel or just a sample?"
At these petrol prices, I'm seriously considering a career change...

🚶‍♂️ Option 1: Walk to all my property appointments.

🚴‍♂️ Option 2: Start using my bicycle.

🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ Option 3: Get a tandem bicycle so someone else can do all the pedalling while I focus on the steering and negotiating property deals! 😜

Imagine arriving at a property viewing:
"Good afternoon! Thanks for coming to see the house. Please excuse the cycling shorts... petrol is now a luxury item!" 😂
On the bright side, if you see me cycling through Pinetown, give me a hoot, a wave, or preferably a push up the hills! 🤣

🚨 BIG CHANGES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS IN SOUTH AFRICA 🚨

New 2026 Property Rights Laws Could Change Evictions, Land Invasions & Rental Disputes Forever

There’s been a lot of discussion lately around property rights in South Africa, and the newly gazetted PIE Amendment Bill of 2026 could bring some significant changes for both property owners and tenants.

As someone working daily with homeowners, investors, landlords, and families trying to build financial security through property, I see first-hand how stressful and costly eviction disputes can become — especially for ordinary South Africans who own one rental unit or rely on rental income to supplement their pension or salary.

The proposed amendments appear to focus on creating a fairer balance. On the one hand, vulnerable families still need protection and dignity. On the other hand, property owners also need practical legal remedies when the system is abused by organised land invasion syndicates or tenants intentionally exploiting delays in the process.

Some of the proposed changes include:
• Tougher penalties for organised land invasions and illegal land sales
• Faster eviction processes in cases of proven financial hardship
• Mandatory mediation aimed at reducing legal costs and court delays
• Greater involvement from municipalities to help avoid lengthy stalemates
• More powers for courts to distinguish genuine hardship from deliberate abuse of the system

For many small landlords, this could be an important step forward. I’ve spoken to property owners over the years who simply could not afford the emotional and financial strain of waiting many months — sometimes years — to regain possession of their properties.

Property ownership remains one of the biggest investments most people will ever make. Laws that create clearer processes, accountability, and balance are essential for confidence in the South African property market.

The Bill is still open for public comment until mid-June 2026, so this conversation is far from over.
