We are excited to have Stavros Anthias joining our team as a consultant.
If you have been in the property game, then we’re sure you already know him,
but just in case you don’t, we sat down with him to get the scoop.
Let’s do a quickfire Q&A.
So, tell us, what is your qualification?
“I have a B.A. LL.B with majors in English and Political Science.”
How long have you worked in the industry?
“I started my 2 years articles of clerkship in 1981, but was admitted as an attorney in March 1984, so I have been an attorney for 42 years. In September 1984 I opened my own practice in partnership with a close friend.”
Shucks, 42 years hey, wow, that’s longer than I’ve even been alive 😉
What was your first job?
“It was with attorney Neville J. Pretorius, in Durban’s C*D, in Union Club Buildings.”
I thought you were going to hit me with “Paper boy”, lemonade stand host or waiter but this is cute too.
Which coffee shop will we find you in consistently?
“Mayfair in Mackeurtan Avenue.”
Agreed – that’s the best crispy bacon on the block.
Best advice you ever received?
“It came from a good friend and colleague, Natalie Lange, when I opened my own office. She advised me to get work done quickly, to get into this habit. If I was done by lunch, to take in a movie, or visit the beachfront and avoid dawdling over work to fill up my day. I have since given this advice to many young attorneys.”
You look like a man who is good value at a party. What’s your go-to karaoke jam?
“Favourite karaoke song is definitely Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline.”

“To be friendly and dependable, with a generous dash of humour.”
