🌿 Imagine owning a home where nature is part of your everyday life…
One of the things that makes the Fransmanshoek coastline so special isn't something you can measure in square metres or bedrooms.
It’s what lives around you. 🐦🌿🌊
The latest Fransmanshoek Conservancy report offers a wonderful glimpse into the natural environment we are privileged to share.
🦅 An endangered resident...
The Fransmanshoek Conservancy is fortunate to host at least one breeding pair of Black Harriers (Witkruisvleivalk) — an endangered Southern African raptor.
With only an estimated 1,300–2,000 mature birds remaining in the wild, seeing one of these striking birds is something rather special.
Even more fascinating? The Conservancy notes that the presence of Black Harriers can indicate a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem.
So when you look out over the fynbos and see one soaring above your property, you're not simply looking at a beautiful bird. You're looking at a small sign of a much bigger story - a landscape that is still rich in nature. 💚
🦆 And the birdlife doesn't stop there…
During the July waterbird count at Voëlvlei, 34 species and 468 individual birds were recorded.
For anyone who loves birdwatching, photography, walking, nature, or simply waking up to something more interesting than traffic outside the window, this is a pretty wonderful neighbourhood.
🌱 Protecting what makes the area special
The Fransmanshoek Conservancy is also actively working to protect this environment - from removing invasive alien vegetation such as Lantana camara, to fire-prevention training and regular conservation patrols along the coastline.
This is one of the reasons I believe buying a home in this part of the Southern Cape is about more than buying property.
It is about becoming part of a coastal lifestyle surrounded by fynbos, wildlife, open spaces and a community that cares about preserving it.
Could you imagine calling this place home? 🌊🏡
