From 1 February 2022, no PROPERTY PRACTITIONER (for example your estate agent/letting agent) may accept a mandate from a SELLER or LESSOR, unless you provide the practitioner with a MANDATORY DISCLOSURE FORM, in which all DEFECTS of the property has been listed. A copy of the form must be handed to the prospective purchaser/lessee BEFORE they make an offer to purchase or lease your property. If an agreement is then concluded, the form must also be ATTACHED to the sale/lease agreement and SIGNED by all the relevant parties.

Take note of the new adjusted Level 1 regulations: Those who test positive with no symptoms do not have to isolate. If you test positive with symptoms, you have to isolate for 7 days. Close contacts do not have to isolate unless they develop symptoms. Primary, secondary and special schools will return to daily attendance. The social distancing rule of 1 meter for learners in schools has also been removed. Remember to continue observing basic health protocols to prevent the transmission of the virus!

The Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled that the non-recognition of Muslim marriages is a violation of women and children's constitutional rights. Government must amend existing legislation or pass new legislation within 24 months to ensure recognition of Muslim marriages as valid marriages. Interim measures has been set in place for unions validly concluded in terms of Sharia law (and not yet finally dissolved).
