ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. WOMEN DESERVE TO LIVE IN SAFETY.
The recent killings of women across Ekurhuleni have once again confronted South Africa with the devastating reality of gender-based violence and femicide.
Behind every statistic is a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend and a member of a community whose life has been violently taken away.
As Mphahlele & Motlanthe Attorneys Inc. , we extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the women who have lost their lives. We stand in solidarity with the affected communities and join the call for thorough investigations, accountability and justice.
The rule of law must mean that those responsible for violence against women are identified, prosecuted and, where found guilty, held accountable.
We further urge anyone with information that may assist the ongoing investigations to report it to the South African Police Services through the appropriate channels. Authorities have specifically appealed for information from the public as investigations continue.
Women should not have to live in fear. Safety, dignity and justice are not privileges, they are fundamental rights.
