Legal Ledgers & Billing™ ("LLB") came to fruition in 2017 when the founder and Chief Executive Officer liaised with advocates of all levels of seniority and identified a need for invoice- and debtors management services to be rendered at a fraction of the traditional outsourced cost, alternatively at a fraction of the cost associated with a full time debtor’s clerk. The feedback from counsel was c
onsistent and simple: Advocates wanted to spend as little time as possible dealing with invoices and debtors, and more time on billable hours or alternatively have more time available to spend at home or on recreational activities. Upon closer inspection of the market and service providers catering specifically for advocates, it became abundantly clear that the majority of the service providers were aiming at developing and providing unique software applicable to the industry, yet such software or applications costs thousands of rands to develop, implement and maintain. Since practising advocates are a niche market and a relatively small segment of the South African Economy as a whole, the cost of these expensively created software programs are filtered through to the client at the end of the day, which unnecessarily increases the costs of the service rendered. Considering all the amazing and internationally recognised cloud based applications already available to the general public for similar functionality compared to the more expensive and specially created counterparts, we started this journey with four questions at heart.
1. Can we add value to the practice of the advocate and cultivate a long term relationship?
2. Can we do it more cost efficient and in a simplified manner?
4. Can we have fun in the process while doing all of the above? With these four questions at the center of our heart and eventually solidified as a mission statement, LLB™ was born!
