We mourn the loss of our colleague and friend, Bouwer van Niekerk, whose life was brutally taken on 5 September 2025.
Bouwer was more than a colleague; he was a standard-bearer for courage and integrity in our profession. He chose the hard matters because they mattered, and he met them with an unflinching commitment to the rule of law and to his clients. His intellect was sharp, his preparation meticulous, and his dedication to excellence unwavering.
We hold fast to the example he set: to work hard, to do the right thing even when it is difficult, to speak plainly, and to stand firm when it counts.
Today we mourn a friend and a leader. Tomorrow, and in all the days that follow, we will honour his legacy by continuing to serve our clients with the same passion, integrity and purpose that defined his life.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, loved ones, and all who have been affected by this devastating loss.
May his life and values remain a lasting source of courage to us all.
