Trust Specialist Mervin Messias has been a practising attorney for more than 40 years. The wealth of knowledge he has amassed across a broad range of legal disciplines has been skilfully channelled into developing a specialist Trust business. His experience and reputation as a Trust Specialist are recognised both nationally and internationally. Renowned for his extraordinary depth of knowledge and
proficiency in Trusts, his expertise includes Estate Planning, Wills and Tax incidental to Trusts. In South Africa he has obtained BA LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, been a member of The South African Law Society Trusts and Estates committee, and a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), where he served as chairperson of the Johannesburg branch for twelve consecutive years. He has also been a member of The South African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT), which recognised him as a Master Tax Practitioner, and a member of The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA). He has lectured to and trained Attorneys, Accountants, Financial Advisors and given numerous presentations to members of the public on Trusts. Internationally, he has been admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales, Australia and New Zealand, as an Attorney in Lesotho and admitted as a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys of the United States of America. He has also been admitted, by invitation, as an Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law.
