The CoC quietly stops more transfers than anything else. πŸ’›

Your electrical Certificate of Compliance is not a formality. It is the law. A transfer cannot register at the Deeds Office without one.

And it cannot come from just any electrician. Only someone with a Wireman's License, registered with the Electrical Contracting Board of South Africa, can issue a valid CoC.

And it must be signed in front of a notary before the wedding. There is no retroactive option.

A straightforward estate takes around eight months. A complicated one can stretch past two years. The executor needs the original will, ID documents, title deeds, bank statements, and more, all while the family is grieving.

Certain documents can only be executed by a notary: antenuptial contracts, notarial bonds, servitudes, and certain trust documents.

Next time someone offers to "notarise" something, ask who is actually doing the notarising. 🌿
