MGF Legal Services

MGF Legal Services Providing legal advice on Will Writing and Lasting Powers of Attorney applications at a place and time that suits you.

I am qualified Lawyer offering advice on Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and Funeral Planning. I studied the CILEx Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice and was delighted to be one of only 32 members nationally to be awarded the Fellow grade of membership of the Society of Will Writers. I started out learning about intestacy the hard way after both my parents tragically died wit

hout leaving Wills. In the following years I was legal guardian to my siblings and a step-daughter, had three children of my own, and experienced a marriage break-up. So whilst I understand normal family situations, I also have a deeper understanding of how complicated modern families can be! Having kept my own Will up-to-date throughout all of my changing circumstances it’s fair to say Estate Planning is something I’m quite passionate about. I can fit in around your busy lives and talk when it’s convenient for you, whether that be daytime, evenings, weekends or even during your lunch break. It really doesn’t have to be a headache and could actually save you and your family a lot of hassle in the long run! I pride myself on offering an excellent customer experience. Planning for our death is not something most of us enjoy doing but we do it to try and take some of the burden away from our loved ones. I understand this and try to make your Estate Planning experience as straightforward as possible. I can guide you through the whole process and offer advice tailored to your specific circumstances. I work on a fixed fee basis so there are no nasty surprises. It may seem like a daunting task but the process is actually very straightforward and takes far less time than you think. It is the only way to protect your family and give you peace of mind. There really is no time like the present- call or message today to arrange an appointment convenient for you.

If you run a business, your estate plan is probably one of your most important business strategies: but it’s often the one that gets left on the 'to-do' list.

Without a clear plan, a business can easily stall if something happens to the owner. Banks might freeze accounts, contracts might be left in limbo, and your family could be left navigating complex legal hurdles during an already difficult time.

Protecting a business legacy requires a bit more than a standard Will. It’s about ensuring continuity, so the hard work you’ve put in isn't lost.

Because these estates can be complex, expert advice is key. Our founder, Marie Forkan, is one of only 32 professionals nationally to hold Fellowship grade membership with the Society of Will Writers, meaning we specialise in exactly these kinds of intricate situations.

We’re always happy to have a casual chat about how to keep your business and family protected.

Caring for a loved one is a selfless role, but it often comes with unexpected legal hurdles.

Many people assume that if they are a primary carer, they automatically have the right to make decisions about a loved one’s medical treatment or daily care. Unfortunately, without a Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place, that isn't always the case.

For Carers Week (8-14 June), we’re highlighting how an LPA can be a vital support tool. It ensures you have the legal authority to keep your loved one’s preferences at the heart of every decision, making a challenging time just a little bit easier.

If you’re navigating this and want to chat about how it works, we’re here to help.

Attorneys can only sell your house if you own the property in your sole name. If you own the property jointly then they would have to liaise with the other owners.
If the Attorney is also the co-owner (e.g. a husband appointing his wife as his attorney) then the Attorney alone could not sell the house and a trustee would need to be appointed (at which point you should obtain appropriate legal advice).

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2026?

At the start of the year, many of us set out with a list of resolutions, perhaps to get more organised or to finally tick off those 'big' life admin tasks. If 'sorting the Will' was on your list and it hasn't quite happened yet, please don't worry. Life has a way of moving quickly!

The good news is that June is the perfect time for a gentle mid-year reset. Getting your estate planning in order doesn't have to be daunting or stressful. We’re here to guide you through the process with care and professional expertise, ensuring your loved ones are protected and giving you true peace of mind for the rest of the year.

We make the process simple, fixed-fee, and completely personalised to your family’s needs.

Let’s tick that resolution off your list together.
