Children’s Day Celebration 2025 🌼

Children’s Day was joyfully celebrated along with exciting sports activities at Santook Primary School, Duka Primary School, and Duka Junior Tribal School in Kalimpong district.
It was a day filled with smiles, energy and happiness as every student participated actively in all events.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents also took part in the celebration, making the day more meaningful and encouraging for the children.
🏅 Prizes and certificates were distributed to appreciate their enthusiasm and hard work.

✨ During the program, students were also taught about Good Touch and Bad Touch to help them understand safety and protect themselves confidently.
The message was simple, clear and empowering for every child.

The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful, and everyone — especially the children — truly enjoyed the celebration. Their joy, excitement and laughter made the day unforgettable.
The students, parents and teachers expressed their heartfelt gratitude for organising such a meaningful day.

Mr. James conducted a session on Good Touch and Bad Touch for parents, emphasizing child safety and awareness. Mrs. Maria Goretti Lepcha shared about Free Legal Aid and how individuals can access legal support. Mr. Pius Gurung gave an informative talk on Fundamental Rights, encouraging participants to know and exercise their constitutional rights.

At Jeevika Kendra, Kalimpong, the Darjeeling Diocese Legal Cell (DDLC) organized an interactive session with the Women SHG members of Jeevika Kendra.
Mrs. Punam Rai beautifully led the session, highlighting the importance of understanding and standing against domestic violence.

A legal literacy program and drawing competition focusing on stopping child labor and promoting environmental conservation were held at Sprang Dales Academy in Paren Gairigaon Jaldaka, Kalimpong on May 17, 2024, by the Darjeeling Diocese Legal Cell.

The drawing competition was divided into three categories for students from classes 2 to 4, 5 to 7, and 8 to 10, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their creativity in addressing crucial social issues.

Following the drawing competition, talks were conducted on important topics such as good touch and bad touch, early marriage, with a video presentation on good touch and bad touch. Additionally, a song on good touch and bad touch was taught to students in classes 1 to 6, enhancing their understanding of personal safety and boundaries.

To conclude the event, two students, Ms. Simran Rai and Mr. Punash Pradhan, summarized the program details for all attendees, encouraging participation and engagement. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each category of the drawing competition, recognizing their efforts and creativity. The organizing team received a memento as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work in orchestrating a successful and impactful event.

The legal literacy program and drawing competition at Sprang Dales Academy provided a platform for children to learn about important social issues and express their views creatively, fostering awareness and empowerment among the young participants.

On May 11, 2024, a legal literacy program was conducted at Algarah, Kalimpong by the Darjeeling Diocese Legal Cell in collaboration with self-help group (SHG) women. The program aimed to educate and empower women on various legal issues, including domestic violence, early child marriage, and access to free legal aid.

During the session, the participants were provided with valuable information on their legal rights and resources available to them. The program not only aimed at creating awareness but also encouraged women to seek assistance when facing legal challenges.

As a token of appreciation for her active participation in the program, Mrs. Diki Bhutia was awarded the Best Mother Award. This recognition highlighted her dedication and commitment to learning and spreading legal awareness within her community.

Overall, the legal literacy program at Algarah, Kalimpong, was a significant initiative that equipped SHG women with essential knowledge and resources to address legal issues effectively and promote empowerment within the community.

Drawing Competition and Awareness Session

A children's drawing competition was organised by Darjeeling Legal Cell on the theme of "Stop Child Labour" was held in two categories (Classes 5-6, 7-8) at Upper Santoook Junior High School, Kalimpong. Winners were chosen for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with all participants receiving consolation prizes and certificates. Following this, an awareness session on good touch and bad touch was also conducted accompanied by a video presentation and a song to educate the children.
