1. Study Permit Allowance:
1) The total study permit allowance for the next two years is capped at 360,000 for 2024, indicating a 35% decrease.
2) Exceptions include Primary, Secondary, Master, and Doctoral programs.
2. Attestation Letter Requirement:
1) Starting January 22, 2024, every study permit application submitted to IRCC must include an "attestation letter."
2) The letter is to be obtained from the province or territory.
By March 31, 2024, each province is expected to establish a process for obtaining this letter.
3) It's crucial to note that the process is not yet established, meaning study permit applications cannot proceed until the attestation letter is ready. (Except Quebec)
Currently, applications are only accepted for Minor, Master, and Doctoral programs.
3. Work Permit Changes:
1) The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) no longer considers the licensing transfer program as eligible.
2) Open Work Permits for spouses are now restricted to Master and Doctoral programs only, No longer eligible for Diploma and Degree programs.
4. Confirmation of Acceptance: (from December 1, 2023)
1) Post-secondary designated learning institutions are now required to directly confirm every letter of acceptance submitted by an applicant outside Canada with IRCC.
