At noon on 13 October 1917, some seventy thousand people stood in the rain at Cova da Iria. Many later described the same thing: the clouds parted and the sun seemed to spin in the sky. It was the last of six apparitions of Our Lady to the three children, Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta.
Exactly thirteen years later, on 13 October 1930, the Bishop of Leiria declared the apparitions worthy of belief. In 2017 Pope Francis canonised Francisco and Jacinta Marto at Fátima itself.
Five days in Portugal to live that story in the month of the Rosary: Mass at the Sanctuary, the Rosary and the evening candlelight procession according to the Sanctuary's calendar, and unhurried moments of silence.
