🚨 3 Signs You Should Switch to a TRC in Vietnam – Now

If you’re still using a visa, it might be time to rethink your option.
1. You keep extending your visa
Frequent renewals take time, cost money, and can interrupt your plans.
2. You plan to stay long-term
If you’re working or living in Vietnam for more than 6 months, a visa is no longer the most efficient solution.
3. You want more stability
A TRC (Temporary Residence Card) allows longer stay, fewer procedures, and smoother entry & exit.

👉 The real question isn’t “Can you stay with a visa?”
👉 It’s “Is it still the best option for your situation?”

📩 Tell us your current visa type — we’ll help you figure out the smarter next step.

Cost of Living in Vietnam: Finding Your 2026 Balance 🇻🇳📊
Vietnam meets you exactly where you are. Every expat finds their own unique rhythm here. Some lean into the immersive local side of the city; others prioritize a convenient, high-end setup.
However, "how much does it cost?" is a question with many answers. In 2026, the landscape is evolving, and it’s important to stay realistic about budgeting.
Here is a breakdown of 3 common ways expats are living in Vietnam today:
🍃 The Immersed Life (~$600 - $1,000/mo)
This is for those who love being close to the heartbeat of the city. You likely live in a charming local "Hẻm" (alleyway), eat 90% of your meals at local stalls, and navigate the streets on a trusty motorbike. It’s a lifestyle of high connection and low overhead.
☕ The Balanced Lifestyle (~$1,000 - $2,500/mo)
The most common "middle ground." This allows for a modern apartment with amenities (pool/gym) and a mix of local flavors and international comforts. It’s the sweet spot for many professionals who want a high quality of life while still saving for the future.
🥂 The Elevated Experience ($2,500+/mo)
Vietnam offers a level of world-class living that is truly unique. From luxury high-rises to private villas and specialized services, this tier provides a seamless, five-star daily experience that would be out of reach in many other global cities.
⚠️ A Note on Reality in 2026:
It’s important to remember that these figures are approximations. Every journey is personal, and costs vary based on your city, habits, and needs.
Additionally, with current global instability and troubles in the Middle East, we are seeing fluctuations in fuel prices and imported goods. It’s always wise to keep a little "buffer" in your monthly budget to stay flexible during these times. 🌍📈
At the end of the day, there is no "right" way to live here. We are all guests in this vibrant country; the best budget is the one that allows you to enjoy the culture, support the local community, and feel at home.
Which lifestyle resonates most with you? Or do you find yourself somewhere in between? Let’s share our experiences below. 👇

❌ Can you sign an employment contract on a tourist visa? NO.
Many foreigners misunderstand this — and it can lead to serious consequences.
👉 A tourist visa in Vietnam ONLY allows you to:
✔️ Travel
✔️ Visit family or friends
👉 It does NOT allow you to:
❌ Sign an employment contract
❌ Work in Vietnam
👉 If you still sign a contract:
⚠️ The contract is NOT legally valid
⚠️ You may face fines, deportation, or even a ban from re-entering Vietnam
👉 Bottom line:
👉 If you want to work legally in Vietnam, you MUST switch to the correct visa type + obtain a Work Permit
