Tet ❤️, also known as Lunar new year festival, is the biggest traditional festival in Viet Nam. It is an occasion for every Vietnamese to have a good time while thinking about the last year and the next year. The Tet season often lasts from the beginning of January to the end of February. Tet’s meaning is the finish of the old year and a welcome for a new year. Tet Holiday is one of the occasions for Vietnamese families to reunite. The branch of the Mai flower or the Kumquat tree can not be absent, adding a new feeling to the building. Traditionally, elders will give lucky money to children and the oldest people in the family. However, nowadays, people can give it to anyone including friends, parents, neighbors. Besides, a lot of people pay a visit to their relatives to wish a happy new year. And people also go to pagodas to pray for their families. Tet holiday will stay in the heart of Vietnamese for generations.
So if you still stay in Vietnam these days, please enjoy to the fullest Tet Holiday and eat the yummy traditional food of Vietnam like Banh chung, Banh day, Banh tet… and travel around Vietnam to enjoy this moment.

Asoka Law wishes you have a nice holiday ❤️

Recently, the US Court of Appeals rejected Apple's request to review the ruling that the company violated VirnetX patents. This is the latest step in a long, tough legal battle between the two companies.

VirnetX is a organization that makes money mainly on licensing technology through the Internet. Since 2010, the company has been suing Apple for using its four patents without a license to create iOS features like FaceTime and iMessage. Apple lost over billions of dollars to compensate VirnetX.

The lawsuit is still ongoing and is likely to be reopened, and there will be additional disputes as well.

John Stuart, former chairman of Quaker Oats once said: "If this business were to be split up, I would be glad to take the brands, trademarks and goodwill and you could have all the bricks and mortar - and I would fare better than you." This might give one some hint on the important of trademarks. Yes, they do matter.

A trademark is primarily used to identify a business, a product or a service, which means your trademark is your face in business, your image among customers. It helps prevent confusion in the marketplace, ensuring that consumers will know it's you who is behind the product or service that your trademark represents.

Even better, a trademark contributes to keep your brand ID safe, with the idea that no one else in the market can use yours without your knowing or permission. Also, trademarks are a valuable asset as they are closely related to the market; losing trademarks results in losing a large number of potential customers.

Signature colors can increase brand recognition by 80%, according to new research in the UK. For example, when seeing the combination of green and white, one can immediately think of Starbucks, without looking at the actual logo.

Also in this study, when shown five different company logos totally made-up, 78% of participants could recall their primary colors, and only 43% of them were able to remember the logos's names.

What color(s) do you want to use in your logo? And what kind of message that you want to convey? This is indeed worth considering.

NEWEST TRENDS IN LOGO DESIGN 2020

What are some of the most interesting trends in logo design in 2020? Let's find out.
According to Crowdspring, these trends are:

1. Playful minimalism
Following the less-is-more principle, minimalist logos gained popularity for a couple of years. In 2020, a playful touch is expected to be added. This might be suitable for brands which are creative and energetic. Promising!

2. Strong typography
In logo design, font choices are just as important as the icons used. In fact, some logos are completely made up of letters, with no icons at all. And lately, designers have just grown bolder. Creative typography is on the way.

3. Curved line
Logos with curved lines are all around and show no sign of waning in the year of 2020. It seems that those lines indicate movement - it might be the reason why this type of logo is popular.

4. Line art
The simplicity of line art makes this logo type an option worth considering. Even better, line art logos can be well displayed in almost every background, with a wide range of styles.

5. Negative space
In logo design, negative space can be purposeful, delivering special meaning which is useful in making your logos memorable. Negative space enables the background to become part of the design, hence can be adaptable to various backgrounds.

Strong branding provokes emotions. According to a study in the US, most people (64% of women and 68% of men) have felt an emotional connection with a brand. That means businesses can gain loyalty from customers stirring up such feelings with the products they offer. The top three feelings people experience in relation to the brands they prefer are interest, trust, and optimism.

For exclusive trademark registration, of course firstly you need a logo. If you want to know if there are any trademarks out there that are similar to yours or may lead to confusion, contact Asoka immediately for advice and support.
