Arizona is nothing but desert. Arizona is brown and barren and can only grow tumbleweeds. If you live in AZ, you've heard it before. We know things to be a bit different. This is a state of incredible diversity that includes snowy mountains, balmy deserts, slashing canyons and sparkling lakes. Yuma anchors the southwest corner of the state and this is what it looks like. If you ate a salad this week, it came from these fields, these fertile swaths of green growing in defiance of winter in the sunniest place on earth. More than 90 percent of all leafy vegetables consumed from Nov-March come from Yuma. So add America’s winter garden to Arizona’s diversity. As you can see, we sort of have it all here. As someone who grew up beneath a wall of slate gray skies—that soggy, sagging, soul-crushing Midwest gray, seeing green fields and blue skies in winter keeps me healthy and whole. I revel in sunshine and then dance with joy when it does rain. How I love Arizona!

Although Yuma County does not yet have any confirmed cases of coronavirus, it is only a matter of time before we do. For now, the courthouse remains open and it is business as relatively usual. We at MKBPC are going to be taking a few steps to try and reduce the amount of in person contact we need to have over the next couple of weeks. Initial consultations and client meetings will be scheduled and held remotely where possible. If you plan to drop by over the next couple weeks, please give us a call and let us know you’re coming.

Everyone is encouraged to review and follow the CDC guidelines with regard to public contact. There’s a lot we don’t know about this virus, but we do know that it’s more dangerous than the regular flu. It is particularly dangerous to the elderly. We all should do what we can to make sure that we are protecting both ourselves and each other until we can get a handle on this thing.
