If you already have a will and other documents that is great! Every few years you need to review them to see if anything has changed and needs updated.
Some questions to ask:
Is my executor still who I want it to be? Are they still alive?
Have I gotten married? Divorced? Widowed?
Have I had any children since writing it? Do I need to add children? Do I need to appoint a guardian for my underage children?
Is there property stated in my will or trust that I no longer own? Is there new property I have bought that needs to be added?
Are my beneficieries still the same? Do I need to add or take away someone?
Is one of my beneficiaries underage or need a special trust to protect their inheritance or services?

Life unfortuantely has other plans. We are not all guaranteed to live til we are old and gray. Tragedy happens and when it does your family is overcome with grief and wants to do what you would want. But without the proper documents they are playing a guessing game. It is so helpful to your loved ones to have something to tell them exactly what you would like, who you want to take charge and what your wishes are for what is left. Old AND Young need estate documents.

If you have children under the age of 18, it is also important to have a will to appoint a guardian in the event of your death. If you have guardians (and second and third choice guardians) listed your children could be cared for and loved by someone you would choose to continue raising them in a way you felt would be best for them. The alternative may be that the courts will find a placement option for them, and there is even a chance of separation among siblings.

Every adult needs a will. It may seem like because you do not own real estate you do not need a will, but everyone has a right to say what their last wishes will be and who will carry them out. You may not own much now, but in the future you may purchase something or even inherit property. It is best to have it set up before something happens to make sure your wishes are known.

A medical POA will allow your designanted person(s) to make choices for your medical needs when you are no longer capable of making those decisions yourself. It will allow them access to your medical records to make an informed decision. Included in this you will find a Living will that states your desires for end of life medical decisions.

A financial POA will allow a designated person(s) to take care of your financials obligations when you are no longer able to or no longer want to.

A Last Will and Testament will appoint an executor to manage your estate. This will allow you to ensure your wishes are followed and your estate will be left to those you wish to receive their share.

A final disposition will allow your wishes to be known for funeral planning.

Irrevocable or Revocable Trust allows your assets to be put in the trust to avoid your estate going into probate.
