Shoulder or arm pain after a tetanus shot does not always point to SIRVA.
If symptoms began several days after vaccination, another possible cause is brachial neuritis, a less commonly recognized nerve condition that can cause significant pain and weakness.
If your symptoms do not fit the typical timing of SIRVA, talk with your doctor about whether further testing, such as an EMG or nerve conduction study, may be appropriate.
