VLI Volunteer Spotlight 💡➡️. Attorney Neil Bhartia
Anil Bhartia felt compelled to want to help veterans when he learned about the mission at Veterans Legal Institute. Recently, one of VLI’s Army veteran clients was overwhelmed with old credit card debt, preventing her from moving forward financially. She struggled to keep her head above water barely making minimum payments and compacted further by Covid. Attorney Bhartia took on the case pro-bono and eliminated all of the veterans’ debts in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, filed in Los Angeles. The client was thrilled at how painless and quick the process was, and she can now look forward to rebuilding her financial future, without the burdens of debt. A high credit score is NOT an indicator of financial success.

A credit score is an "I ❤️ DEBT" score, and you don't need one.

It has nothing to do with how much money you have in the bank. You could get a million dollar raise today, and it wouldn't impact your credit score one bit. All a credit score represents is your relationship with debt. It's based on how many times you've borrowed money and paid it back, so you could borrow more money and pay that back, and continue to dive deeper and deeper into debt. Chasing a high credit score is ridiculous. It makes the banks richer and richer and pushes you further and further away from your goals. It's time to stop playing the credit score game and take back YOUR money. Pay off debt as fast as you can, and don't look back.

You know what you have when you don't have payments?... MONEY!

I have a zero credit score, and I'm doing just fine.

Yes, you can still rent a car, or an apartment, or even get a mortgage without a credit score. It takes a little more effort to live a life without a credit score, but it's a heck of a lot better than owing people money for the rest of your life.

Despite the fact that there are very few cars on the road, daily I am surprised at how it seems that the remaining few drivers seem to be the terrible ones. Yesterday I watched a white convertible drift all over the place and then run a red light. Today wasn't much different. Check out the red car on my right...while approaching a green light, some buffoon pulls out in front of him to make a left turn and almost gets t-boned. With so few cars on the road, you have to be a complete moron to be driving this bad. Is there anything that would require you to be in such a rush you have to risk other people's lives? Risk your own, who cares, just stop messing with other people.
