Getting preapproved before you start looking at houses is a step I always recommend, and honestly, it can save you a lot of time and frustration.

Think about it this way: if you go shopping without knowing how much money you have to spend, you’re probably going to look at things that aren’t realistic for you. Buying a house is no different.

A preapproval gives you a better idea of what you can afford, what your monthly payment may look like, and what price range makes sense for you. It also puts you in a much better position when you find a house you love and are ready to make an offer.

And one of the biggest reasons I recommend doing this before house hunting? You don’t want to fall in love with a home first, only to find out later that it doesn’t fit your financing.

Get the numbers figured out, then we can go shopping with a plan. That’s a much better way to start the home-buying process.
