Sikes Law Group, PLLC An Av-rated law firm with offices in Winter Garden, FL,

We recently assisted a client in settling a long-standing dispute/lawsuit with a neighbor and community HOA. While the result that we accomplished was our client’s primary goal, the attorneys’ fees and costs for all involved were substantial. Litigation is an expensive process, so it is important that everyone count the costs (financially, emotionally and time-wise) before filing a lawsuit.

I am celebrating the completion of my 48th year as a Florida Bar licensed attorney today! And I am privileged to be surrounded by such a great team of attorneys Alan Bent, Tami Dacey and Kendall Lee, as well as key support staff Paralegal Martha Rosales, Sonia Feliciano and Rosaura Rosales. I am humbled by the trust our clients place in our firm as we continue to endeavor to provide excellent service. Thank you!

What do you want people to think about when they see your name? Our goal for Sikes Law Group is for people to expect excellence, credibility and efficiency. How do people perceive you?

Did you know that we now have four full time attorneys working in our firm? In addition to Ron Sikes and Alan Bent, attorneys Tami Dacey and Kendall Lee are dedicated to serving our clients with passion, expertise and efficiency.

Alan Bent has been with our firm over ten years and focuses on probate and estate planning, transactional work and civil litigation. Tami Dacey, who taught in the public school system for several years, is working primarily in litigation matters, with an emphasis in family law. Kendall Lee, a native of Clermont, Florida, joined us this past December and has "hit the ground running." Most of her practice is in the family law arena.

In addition to our attorneys, Martha Rosales is a paralegal and our practice manager. She, too, has worked with us for more than ten years. Sonia Feliciano continues to serve as our receptionist and assists with litigation support. Our newest team member is Rosaura Rosales, who provides important support for the team.

We are blessed to be very busy, but continue to accept new clients and new assignments from existing clients. We also continue to provide a free initial consultation to prospective new clients, so they can get to know us and our qualifications before they make a decision regarding the selection of legal counsel.

The Florida legislature recently adopted sweeping changes to the laws relating to alimony in divorce cases. We have prepared an article overviewing the changes to the statute and will be happy to share it with anyone who is interested. Please e-mail us at [email protected] and we will send you a copy of the article at no charge.

We don't post often on here -- mainly because of the confidential nature of what we do. Nor do we think it is appropriate to brag about our victories. That is why we offer a free consultation to all new clients, giving them a chance to get to know us and our qualifications before there is any financial commitment.

The reality is that hiring an attorney is an important decision. As important is finding the right lawyer or law firm for your needs. Experience counts, but so does empathy and understanding. We work to be good listeners and to always remember that the matters we handle are extremely important to you. That is why we involve our clients in the decision making process throughout the matters we handle.

That said, we will list some of our recent results in the near future, being certain to maintain the confidentiality that we are committed to protect.

Thank you for looking at our page!

What does an eminent domain proceeding (condemnation) have to do with a divorce case? The truth is: usually nothing. However, a good working knowledge of eminent domain law is extremely helpful when property involved in a divorce is also subject to being taken through a condemnation procedure by a local government. Understanding the process can make the difference between losing out on a good deal or "finding" an additional resource that can facilitate a resolution. Ron Sikes has been involved in numerous eminent domain matters over the course of his career -- which makes it easier for him to spot a good deal when it comes along in a divorce case. Experience matters!

People often ask us what kind of legal issues we handle. The simple answer is "business law and family law matters." However, with combined experience of over sixty years between our three attorneys, the list is much longer.

In a single day's work we may be dealing with issues ranging from homeowners' association issues to forming a new limited liability company to taking on an appeal from another attorney in a family law case. We litigate both business and family law matters through trial, whenever necessary; although we always look for opportunities to reasonably resolve a matter before it goes to trial.

Working with clients purchasing property and resolving real estate title issues is another area we are frequently called to assist in. Similarly, Alan Bent has developed a strong practice in estate planning and probate, where he is called upon to navigate the financial and emotional issues that often arise. Having handled hundreds of mortgage foreclosure cases, Rob Hassett works with clients and lenders in an effort to achieve sound solutions.

Thank you for visiting our page!

We will, from time to time, be posting information about the kinds of work that our attorneys perform. In addition, whenever we can post something about a specific result in a matter we have handled, we will do so as long as it does not violate any client confidence.

Since our initial conferences with new clients are always free, we invite you to call to set a time to talk with one of our attorneys about your specific needs.

All of our clients and friends, whether individuals or businesses, have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic! In response to questions raised by some of our business clients, we have been asked to help them understand what the newly created legislation means to them. Who is eligible for sick leave? What precautions do we need to follow in interacting with customers? How do we track employee requests for compensation and what can we require that they provide to us?

Like the science of the pandemic, this is an emerging area of the law. Attorney Rob Hassett can answer these questions and more! He can be reached at 407-877-7115.

We were very pleased today to receive a decision by the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta reversing a trial judge’s decision to keep an employment discrimination case from going to trial. The case, filed by our firm with employment specialist Richard Larson, claims that Nike condoned discrimination against our client based upon his national origin. Our client legally immigrated from Croatia and is one of the hardest working people we have ever met. Time will tell if we settle or will go to trial with a jury.
