The FCSO Annual Coat Drive is back, and we’re asking our community to help us keep our neighbors warm this season. We’re collecting warm-weather items including new or gently used coats, scarves, sleeping bags and more.

Donations can be dropped off at any Winston-Salem SECU location throughout the month of October 2026.

For more than three decades, Cheryl Howell has been one of North Carolina’s leading experts on family law and has acted as a trusted professor and resource for the School of Government. Cheryl Howell retired from the School as the Albert Coates Professor of Public Law and Government, closing out 34 years with the school. Since 1992, Howell’s service to the state has created a reputation of excellence, earning her several of North Carolina’s highest honors, like the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the North Carolina State Bar’s John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award, the North Carolina Bar Association’s Liberty Bell Award, and the Women of Justice Legal Scholar Award.
