Your home, savings, or the family heirlooms you hope to pass down. Do you know which assets can go into your trust?

When you’re working with a trust attorney in Northern Colorado, understanding what your trust can hold is an important part of the conversation. Real estate, certain bank and investment accounts, and personal belongings may all have a place in your plan.

Thinking about moving to Florida? There’s a proposed property tax change worth watching before you finalize your timeline.

Florida voters will consider Amendment 3 on November 3, 2026. If approved, it would increase the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes to up to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028 for eligible homeowners.

Here’s the detail prospective residents should pay attention to: December 31, 2026.

Under the proposal, people who become Florida residents on or after January 1, 2027, would initially receive a smaller exemption. The larger exemption would become available beginning with their fifth year of qualifying homestead exemption.

That could make the timing of establishing residency financially significant.

Before changing your moving plans, discuss your circumstances with a Florida attorney and tax professional. If you’re leaving Colorado or Wyoming, our office can help you review your existing estate plan as part of that transition.
