USCIS Update April 28, 2026
🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE ON IMMIGRATION PROCESSES – MAY 2026 🇺🇸
Starting this May, USCIS will implement major changes that could impact thousands of people applying for work permits and Green Cards. These updates aim to modernize the system, but they also bring stricter requirements and more detailed reviews.
🔹 Work Permits (EAD) Updates
Some applicants may benefit from longer validity periods, up to 5 years in certain categories. However, updated biometrics will now be required under new security standards, meaning some people may need to attend new appointments.
🔹 Green Card Process Gets Stricter
Financial requirements are becoming more rigorous. Sponsors will now be evaluated beyond minimum income, including credit history and financial stability over the past 24 months.
🔹 Digital Applications Only
Many immigration forms will no longer be accepted on paper. All applications must be submitted online through the myUSCIS system.
🔹 Operation PARRIS Expansion
This initiative increases background checks and may require re-interviews, especially for asylum cases, employment-based cases, or applications with inconsistencies.
🔹 Final Action Dates Now Required
For employment-based Green Cards, applicants must meet the Final Action Date before filing, reducing flexibility and increasing wait times.
⚠️ What does this mean for you?
Expect longer processing times, more requests for evidence, and stricter reviews. Accuracy in your application is now more important than ever.
📌 If you currently have a case open, make sure your documents are complete, updated, and consistent. Be prepared for possible interviews and additional scrutiny.
