As we get closer to the 15th and refunds start moving, let me remind you of something important. If you received a cash advance, remember that when your refund hits, that advance must be paid back first. If you have any outstanding debts, those will be deducted from your refund. The interest for the cash advance is deducted, and then the tax preparation fee must be paid. I know many of you check 'Where’s My Refund' every day. Before you call your tax company thinking we took your money, please read what the IRS site says; it will clearly tell you if a debt was deducted. Also, if your fees were not taken out of your refund, you are still responsible for paying your tax preparation fee. Our payment is for the service of preparing your return; it is not based on whether you receive a refund or how much you receive. If you chose to have your fees taken out of your refund, that is a bank service, and there are bank fees and software fees attached. In those cases, tax pros do not receive the full amount you see; the bank and software company receive a portion. Most people do not realize there is also a cost to the tax pro for every client who gets a cash advance. We pay fees for advances, electronic signatures, and e-filing. We never receive the full fee you think we do; that is called the cost of doing business.

🚨 ID Verify Notice

Stay ahead this tax season! We encourage everyone to log into your IRS online account (or create one if you haven’t already). If you log into your IRS account and see “Verify Your Tax Return Information,” you may be getting a letter soon.

Don’t panic.

✔️ It does NOT mean you did anything wrong.
✔️ It does NOT mean your tax preparer made a mistake.
✔️ It does NOT mean you won’t get your refund.

It simply means the IRS is protecting you from identity theft and wants to confirm it’s really you before releasing your money.

📬 When the letter arrives, don’t ignore it. Contact your tax professional for help completing the verification correctly.

Once verified, refunds are typically processed within 1–2 weeks.

Stay patient — your money is on the way! 💰

The IRS right now:
“Relax… it’s the PATH Act.”

If you got kids or EITC, your refund is on timeout til mid-February ⏸️
Not denied. Not lost. Just waiting like everybody else 😭

Don’t panic. Don’t call your tax lady 10 times 😂
It’s coming 💸

🚨 PSA: Identity Verification Letters Are the NEW normal 🚨

Before you panic .. let me explain 👇🏽

Because identity theft is at an all-time high, the IRS has stepped up security and is now sending out identity verification letters more than ever.

👉🏽 If you get one, it does NOT mean your tax return is wrong.
👉🏽 You were randomly selected.
👉🏽 The IRS just wants to confirm it’s really you before releasing your refund.

Annoying? Yes.
A problem? No.

Once your identity is verified, your refund can move forward. Simple as that.

This is protection, not punishment. Stay calm and don’t ignore the letter 💜

If you filed honestly and provided true information, you’re good.

📬 PORTALS ARE UPDATING 🚨

If you see this message in your IRS account or get a letter like this in the mail 👀👇🏽
🛑 NO YOUR TAX PREPARER DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG.

Let me say it again for the people in the back 🗣️
❌ Not fraud
❌ Not an audit
❌ Not your preparer messing up

🧾 WHAT THIS IS:
The IRS randomly sends ID verification letters every year literally lottery style 🎟️

👩🏽‍💻 WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
📞 CALL. YOUR. TAX. PREPARER.

Why? Because:
⚠️ Answer ONE question wrong and your refund can be delayed MONTHS
⚠️ Doing it solo can turn a 5-minute fix into a 6-month IRS wait 😮‍💨
⚠️ IRS appointments are backed up BAD

✅ Verification is quick
✅ It’s easy
✅ Your preparer knows exactly what the IRS is asking

💡 THIS IS WHY YOU HIRED A TAX PRO
Not just to file but to walk you ALL the way through funding 💰 and even AFTER if needed.

🛑 Don’t play yourself trying to “figure it out”
📲 Call your preparer and get it handled the RIGHT way
