Most people think a newly built home costs more than an existing one. But right now, that’s actually backwards.

One week from today, drivers in Lycoming County should expect a bit more traffic than usual — but it's for a good cause.

The 25th Annual 9/11 Memorial Ride will be held Sept. 11, honoring the heroes and victims of the September 11 attacks while also marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Gates open at 10 a.m. at the Clinton Township Fire Company, with vendors, food, and live entertainment throughout the day. A memorial service is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the memorial ride at 6 p.m., and a fireworks display by Bixler Pyrotechnics at 9 p.m.

Free shuttle bus service will be provided by Susquehanna Trailways between Montgomery Park and the Clinton Township Fire Company from 4 to 10 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Cravings???

When a food feels unusually hard to stop eating, the explanation may be bigger than willpower. Many packaged foods are engineered to combine rapid texture change, intense flavor, and carefully balanced sugar, salt, and fat in ways that keep reward high while fullness lags behind.

Three clues I look for:

1. It disappears in the mouth with very little chewing.
2. Sugar appears under several names across the ingredient list.
3. The package delivers constant novelty through multiple flavors, shapes, or coatings.

You do not need to fear every package. The point is to recognize when a product is doing more than feeding hunger. Pairing convenience foods with minimally processed foods, buying single flavors, and portioning from the package before eating can make the environment do less of the deciding.
