🏡 The purchase price may get the most attention, but it isn’t the only part of a real estate offer that can be negotiated!
Here are 7 other items that may be worth discussing:
1️⃣ Closing date — A timeline that works well for both the buyer and seller can make an offer more appealing.
2️⃣ Closing costs — Buyers may ask the seller to contribute toward certain allowable closing expenses.
3️⃣ Repairs or credits — Depending on the inspection results, buyers may negotiate repairs, a credit, or a price adjustment.
4️⃣ Appliances and personal property — Refrigerators, washers, dryers, outdoor equipment, and other items may be included if everyone agrees.
5️⃣ Home warranty — A seller-paid home warranty can offer the buyer a little extra peace of mind after closing.
6️⃣ Interest-rate buydown — A seller concession may sometimes be used to help lower the buyer’s mortgage rate.
7️⃣ Contingencies — Inspection, financing, appraisal, and home-sale contingencies can all affect the strength and protection of an offer.
Every transaction is different, and good negotiation is about finding terms that help bring both sides to the closing table. If you’re thinking about buying or selling, I’d be happy to help you understand your options!
