The first morning (yesterday, 12/19/25) I've stopped to take photos on the morning walk-the Yamhill River and Gold Creek wers doing their jobs during the heavy rain. I love how the natural color was sepia and I always love the view towards home. Through the power failures, our backup generator kicked in and I could keep printing documents for notary assignments, awesome. I was lucky that fallen tree obstacles had been cleared from my routes.

I admire folks who post immediately-I'm a chronically late poster. Here's a fairly recent video of driving a 1955 T-bird. With stock brakes and steering, Baby Bird really drives me. It is so hard to not smile the whole way. Oregon is so great for old cars.

I attended the National Notary Association 2025 Conference in Las Vegas, NV in June. I met inspirational people from the entire country and from all walks of life. I was struck by the respect and support everyone had for each other, and wished our governments could follow suit. I am still processing all the information shared and learned, but wanted to share this sun sculpture wall art in the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Besides the sculpture's reflection of the sunshine and heat in the Mojave Desert, it symbolizes awareness, learning, and respect to me. In our brief encounters with customers, we help them where they are, not where we think they should be. We spread respect.

I also started providing notary services to inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan, OR, in April. If you are coordinating document signing for an inmate and need a notary, just call or text me. It takes variable amounts of time between submitting a visitation form for approval and scheduling the appointment. Stay safe in the sun!

Now that I look for it, I cannot locate a favorite quote feature here, so here it is: "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened", by Anatole France. The last of my pets joined her housemates in the sky in August, at age 19.
As my next phase of life starts, without animals to care for, I think my cat is here and think the house is quiet without her inconvenient requests to be fed. A recent assignment paired me with an inquisitive cat, happy to sit on the table, in the empty briefcase, then rush out the opening door at the same time as me. I used to ask signers only if there were guard animals I needed to be aware of when I arrived at their house, but now I ask what animals I will be distracted by. I will always pet an animal that invites me to pet it, and love that it is part of my job.

I am finally a full-time notary! As I transition from working for others to just myself, I'm enjoying being self-employed. The Chrome Notary decal has been on the car for less than a week and I already want to upgrade it. It's also been fun seeing folks get interested in notary things during assignments, and encouraging them to follow those waves.
