20-year-old Pierre Damas Bel came to the United States in 2024 on Temporary Protected Status from Haiti to be with his parents and to build a life. After the Trump administration terminated TPS for more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants, he was fitted with an ankle monitor. According to advocates at the Haitian Bridge Alliance, he was terrified of being deported back to Haiti. He took his own life.

These policies have heartbreaking consequences that cannot be undone. Pierre was someone's son. He had teachers writing letters on his behalf, coaches who believed in him, and a future he was working toward! https://brnw.ch/21x5myS

Nurses in isolation wards fill gloves with warm water to give patients comfort. 🏥🤝

During the pandemic, strict safety rules prevented families from visiting critically ill patients. In Brazil, nurses placed warm, water-filled disposable gloves around patients' hands to simulate human touch. Known as the Hand of God, this technique provided emotional comfort and helped improve blood flow for essential medical monitoring.

Za'Darius Smith got a call from his mother's doctor. She didn't have much longer.

He told the Eagles. They didn't want to let him go. Five games into his eleventh season, three Pro Bowls and 70 sacks behind him, he retired. That was the only way out he had. His mama died soon after. Then his grandmother. Then his father.

Her name was Sharon. She worked as a correctional officer at Butler County in Alabama for 22 years. When he was little she used to take him inside the jail so he could see men he knew locked up.

In 2019 he signed with Green Bay. Before he ever reported, he drove 14 hours from Baltimore to her house in Greenville, Alabama, and asked her if she was ready to stop working. She told him her bag was already packed. That's the picture on the left. She's still in uniform.

He signed with Atlanta this month. Not for the money, the Browns called first. Atlanta is the closest team to home, and his mama always wanted the family to be able to drive up and watch him play.

When he suits up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium he's renting two Greyhound buses and parking them at her church.

"That's who my mama always wanted to come."
